Forget the lawn—get off my roof!
An 83-year-old grandfather from California was so annoyed when a trespasser got on his roof that he went right up and pushed him off, a report said.
The wild incident happened early Tuesday in the Los Angeles suburb La Puente when the disturbed man was spotted hopping rooftops, Mercury News reported.
He had already been reported to cops for following someone.
The man landed on the roof of Wilford Burgess, 83, and then refused to get down for at least five hours, sheriff’s told the outlet.
A crisis negotiator tried to talk the man down and so did Burgess’s niece, Ashley Wrenn, but to not avail.
Burgess could only shake his fist at the man from the ground for so long before he took matters into his own hands, Wrenn told the outlet.
“My grandfather was so upset. [He] told him, ‘You need to get down and off my roof,’” Wrenn recounted.
“My neighbor Albert got a ladder. My grandfather climbed the ladder quick. He pushed the guy to a corner of the roof and threw him off the roof.”
Video of the showdown was posted online, showing the emotionally disturbed man to be no match for Burgess and his curmudgeonly tenacity.
“Grandpa is on the roof,” the person taking the video can be heard saying.
Burgess is seen charging up to the man and grabbing him, pulling him to the edge of the roof close to where a car was parked. The two wrestle with each other for a bit and Burgess can be seen raising his arm several times as if he’s going to punch the disturbed man but decides against it and just pushes him off instead. The man crashed into the car beneath them but didn’t fall for very long because the home is only one story high. He survived the fall and was brought to an area hospital for a psychological evaluation.
“It was a crazy morning,” Wrenn said of the event.
Industry City police told The Post Burgess is not facing any charges against him for pushing the man down.
“It was just somebody keeping his property safe.”
