Campaign manager tells Trump to stick to script or lose

Despite trailing in most major polls, Donald Trump’s campaign manager insists her boss can still be president — provided he avoids off-the-cuff rants like the one he made last weekend in Pennsylvania.

“You and I are in a fight for the next 17 days,” Kellyanne Conway said she told Trump after he went off script in Gettysburg, threatening lawsuits against all the “liars” who have accused him of sexual harassment — at an event purportedly convened for the GOP presidential nominee to introduce serious policy initiatives.

Trump asked why, and Conway continued: “Because I know you’re going to win. And that comment you just made sounds like you think you’re going to lose. And we’re going to argue about it until you win.”

Trump, Conway said, answered: “Okay, honey. Then we’ll win.”

Conway, who is Trump’s third campaign manager, told CNN that she remains “comfortable” with her boss.

“It’s his campaign, and it’s his candidacy, and in the end, yes, I feel comfortable with his voice and his choice,” she said.

Yet she encouraged the Republican presidential nominee to steer clear of distractions.

“Donald Trump is at his very best when he talks about the issues,” she said.

At Saturday’s event, Trump railed against his accusers. “All of these liars will be sued after the election is over,” he said.

“Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign,” he added, hours before an 11th woman came forward to say Trump had sexually mistreated her.
