Off-duty cop called 911 for himself after road-rage shooting

This is the cop who fatally shot a man while off duty in a Brooklyn road-rage incident — and sources told The Post that when he called 911 to get the victim an ambulance, he also ordered one for himself.

In an audiotape that the NYPD gave to the Attorney General’s Office on Monday, Officer Wayne Isaacs tells an operator that a man had been shot at Atlantic Avenue and Bradford Street in East New York and needed an ambulance.

Rather than let them know the extent of the injuries, though, Isaacs told the 911 operator that he had been assaulted — and needed medical transport as well, the sources said.

The operator also asked Isaacs for standard info, including the location and a description of what he was wearing so police could recognize him.

“He calls for an ambulance for a person shot. He also said on the call that he’d been assaulted and he needed an ambulance,” a top police source told The Post.

But damning surveillance video obtained by The Post paints a much different portrait of the July 4 shooting — showing Delrawn Small falling back almost immediately after approaching Isaacs’ car.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday that he’d viewed the video.

“It was very disturbing but it is very difficult to make out what happened,” he said, declining to speculate further until the investigation is complete.

The NYPD has not officially said whether Small ever laid a hand on Isaacs, who refused to comment Wednesday at his Brooklyn home.

But Isaacs has been stripped of his gun and badge as the department continues to investigate the deadly encounter.

Small thought he’d been cut off by Isaacs as they were driving through East New York, and followed his car for several blocks before getting out of his vehicle to confront him, police sources said.

They also have said Isaacs will likely face criminal charges.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said on NY1 Wednesday that his office would conduct an “impartial, thorough and meticulous investigation.”
