Trump slams media and Mueller probe in latest tweetstorm

President Trump accused the media Saturday of ignoring the latest twist in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation: the discovery that the FBI wiped clean thousands of text messages that two high-profile investigators exchanged while they were assigned to Mueller’s team.

“Wow, 19,000 Texts between Lisa Page and her lover, Peter S of the FBI, in charge of the Russia Hoax, were just reported as being wiped clean and gone,” Trump posted Saturday morning.

Page and Peter Strzok, who worked on both the Hillary Clinton email investigation and the probes into Trump’s campaign, reportedly texted each other about plans to “stop” Trump from winning the presidency. The Justice Department revealed Thursday that thousands of their messages to each other had disappeared, blaming the loss of data on a technological failure.

“Such a big story that will never be covered by the Fake News,” Trump complained, though a number of mainstream outlets reported on the development. “Witch Hunt!”

It was part of a trio of tweets lashing out at the media.

“Never in the history of our Country has the ‘press’ been more dishonest than it is today,” Trump charged. “Stories that should be good, are bad. Stories that should be bad, are horrible. Many stories, like with the REAL story on Russia, Clinton & the DNC, seldom get reported. Too bad!”

And he danced on the grave of the Weekly Standard magazine, a right-leaning outlet that vociferously opposed Trump and was shuttered Friday.

“The pathetic and dishonest Weekly Standard, run by failed prognosticator Bill Kristol (who, like many others, never had a clue), is flat broke and out of business,” Trump posted.

“Too bad. May it rest in peace!”

Later Saturday, Trump made a surprise visit to Arlington National Cemetery to join volunteers from Wreaths Across America, a group that decorates veterans’ headstones with holiday greenery.
