Convicted crybaby “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli says that if he has to spend the next seven years in a max-security lockup, he should at least be allowed to hunker down in its “minimum security camp,” according to newly filed court papers.
In a letter to Brooklyn federal court Judge Kiyo Matsumoto on Tuesday, Shkreli’s defense team asked that he be sent to the cushy digs located within Camp Canaan, a high-security federal prison for men in Waymart, Pa.
Though Matsumoto does not ultimately determine where Shkreli will go, she can issue a recommendation to the US Bureau of Prisons.
The judge sentenced Shkreli to the prison time Friday, in addition to a $75,000 fine, court-mandated therapy, community service and a nearly $7.3 million forfeiture.
The order follows Shkreli’s conviction last year on charges of securities fraud for defrauding investors in multiple hedge funds he ran.
The infamous loudmouth has been languishing at the Metropolitan Detention Center since September, when he posted on Facebook that he’d pay $5,000 per strand of hair, with follicle, plucked from the head of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
While Shkreli would typically have been destined for a white-collar camp, Matsumoto found the hair bounty constituted a solicitation of a threat and rendered him a danger to the community, landing him in a much harsher penitentiary.
Canaan’s notable inmates include al Qaeda supporter Abdul Kabir, who is serving a life sentence for a failed bombing plot on JFK in 2007.
