Robot solves Rubik’s Cube in about half a second

Robots are officially better than humans — and this insane video of a droid solving a Rubik’s Cube in 0.38 seconds is proof.

The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it clip shows a robot developed by two US researchers cracking the tricky puzzle in a world-record time.

The Rubik’s Cube was first created back in 1974 and is one of the popular and well-known 3D puzzle games in the world.

Since its inception, humans have been competing to solve the tricky puzzle in record times.

But robots have now significantly outpaced us fleshy folk by a long way.

A new video shows a robot created by researchers Ben Katz and Jared Di Carlo solving the puzzle with six motorized arms, two PlayStation Eye cameras and a clever algorithm.

The previous world-record for robots was set by German engineer Albert Beer and his robot Sub1 Reloaded.

The pair managed it in an incredible 0.637 seconds – which has now been bested.

So how do humans stack up against the bots?

Well, according to Guinness World Records, the current champ is Patrick Ponce, from the USA.

The 15-year-old managed to complete a 3x3x3 cube in just 4.69 seconds, during the Rally In The Valley competition in Middletown, Virginia on September 2, 2017.

It’s unlikely that humans will ever beat a robot at this classic game again.
