Lost woman rescued from woods after serious car crash

An Alabama woman was miraculously rescued after a car crash reportedly caused her to lose consciousness and left her stranded 36 hours in the woods.

Lisa Michelle Holman, 45, vanished Friday night following an accident that sent her car flying down a 20-foot embankment in a wooded area of Shelby County, news station WIAT reported.

Her disappearance prompted a massive search effort involving multiple agencies across the the area’s rough terrain.

Friends said that Holman fell unconscious after the accident and lost track of her surroundings.

“She thinks she lost consciousness after the crash, and then she got her purse and shoes and placed them outside the car [and] climbed out through the back,” friend Amy Miller, who was part of the search party, told WIAT.

Holman, of Chelsea, reportedly became more disoriented as she tried to recover her belongings.

“Once she got out the car, she knelt down to find her purse and searched around and couldn’t find it; it was so dark,” Miller said. “Once that happened, she continued to look for her purse and the car was gone.”

Search crews reportedly tracked down Holman’s vehicle Saturday morning, but the woman was nowhere to be found.

Using a drone, authorities looked for her to no avail as part of the all-day search effort, officials said.

The search was briefly suspended Saturday night but resumed the following morning and led to Holman’s rescue around 8:30 a.m. in the woods, WIAT reported.

Authorities discovered the 45-year-old under a rock overhang where she took shelter after the crash.

Holman was brought to a local hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
