Ex-Giants running back allegedly attacked, threatened to kill wife

The “Wind” of the Giants’ “Earth, Wind and Fire” running back trio of the mid-2000s has been accused of choking and threatening to kill his wife.

Derrick Ward, who gave the Giants a formidable threat in the backfield with Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw from 2007 to 2008, reportedly has been placed under a restraining order from his wife and children after his wife, Naomi Lee Allen-Ward, alleged he has become physically abusive toward her over the past year.

In one instance, according to court documents obtained by TMZ, Ward lashed out at his wife when she tried to intervene during a lesson he was giving their daughter.

“You always have to f—ing say something!” Ward allegedly screamed at his wife. “I hate you! I’ll kill you! I don’t care if I go to jail.”

Last October, Ward poked her in the face, clasped his hands around her throat and told her, “You’re so f—ing stupid,” Allen-Ward claims.

Ward’s abusive tendencies have worsened since their relationship began nine years ago, Allen-Ward says, leading to him pushing her, punching walls and breaking objects while their children are present.

The 37-year-old Ward is required to stay at least 100 yards away from Allen-Ward and their children per the restraining order.

Ward won Super Bowl XLII with the Giants during his four seasons in New York. His best season came in 2008 when he rushed for a career-high 1,025 yards. The Los Angeles native finished his career with the Buccaneers and Texans before announcing his retirement in 2012.
