Nonprofit allegedly tried to downgrade chartered flight prize

A nonprofit that auctioned off a private, chartered flight to Cuba allegedly tried to swap the prize for coach seats instead.

The Legacy of Hope Foundation, which was raising money to build Nelson Mandela’s Children’s Hospital in Africa, offered the swanky trip via online auctioneer CharityBuzz last year.

The winning bidder, who plunked down $32,499, was promised a four-night Cuba getaway, complete with “cultural concierge and a private car and driver.”

But when the winner went to claim the prize, they were offered coach seats on American Airlines.

CharityBuzz says in Manhattan Supreme Court papers that Legacy of Hope hasn’t reimbursed it.
