A suspect in the murder of the former bodyguard to hip hop star Future was arrested Monday afternoon casually working in the produce section of a Manhattan supermarket, according to law enforcement sources.
The New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force swooped in on Tywan Porter as he worked in the Morton Williams grocery store in Greenwich Village around noon as bewildered shoppers looked on, sources said.
Porter was named as the prime suspect last week in the January shooting death of Michael Phillips in Jonesboro, Georgia.
Porter allegedly came to the door of his home and shot him dead after an argument, officials said. Phillips’ pregnant wife was home at the time of the incident.
Acting on a tip out of Georgia, law enforcement tracked Porter down to the supermarket and placed him under arrest.
He did not resist.
Sources said Porter is originally from Queens but was recently living in Harlem.
Future, whose real name is Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, told TMZ that he was crushed by the slaying but had no information about the crime.
“Rest in peace Big Mike,” the rapper tweeted after the murder.
