Weird But True

Knife falls from high-rise straight into man’s head

Heads up!

A man in China had a brush with death last week when a 5-inch knife fell from a high-rise apartment building and plunged straight into his head.

Xiao Yunzhi was remarkably calm at the hospital even though the knife was still in his head.Europics

Xiao Yunzhi was enjoying a morning walk last Thursday in his hometown of Guangyan in Sinchuan province when he suddenly felt a sharp pain coming from the top left side of his head, the Telegraph reports.

The man didn’t even realize what had happened until he saw a local street vendor staring at the protruding blade.

“It hurt a lot,” Xiao told NBC News as he lay in his hospital bed on Monday.

“I cried out, ‘My head! My head hurts!’ but I did not know what had happened.”

Xiao amazingly managed to walk 100 yards before the pain became too much to bear and he stopped at a phone booth, where locals called police.

Doctors were able to remove the knife, which miraculously was lodged in the flesh surrounding his skull and somehow avoided causing a serious brain injury or death.

“He is stable but is not fully out of danger yet,” Xiao’s sister told the Telegraph.

“He cannot use the phone yet in case it has an effect on his condition.”

As to how the precarious projectile managed to fly off the side of the building, a man known only as Mr. Wu said he safely left the knife inside a flowerpot positioned on a balcony, the Telegraph reported.

“They told the police that the wind must have blown it off,” said Xiao’s sister, identified as Miss Xiao.

She added that the people have accepted responsibility for the accident.

“They have already come to visit my brother in the hospital and have paid some of his medical bills,” she told the Telegraph.

“I only hope he can get better soon.”
