Warrant issued for teen who looted dead woman’s apartment

A bench warrant was issued Wednesday for the teen charged with fatally mowing down a 4-year-old girl last year after he was a no-show in court on new charges he looted a dead woman’s apartment with his dad.

Franklin Reyes Jr., 18, was required to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court on the fresh petit larceny charges after he and his dad, Franklin Sr., allegedly swiped more than $2,000 in cash, jewelry, wine and shoes from a West 21st Street apartment on June 5 — a day after the first anniversary of little Ariel Russo’s death.

Judge Alexander Tisch waited until 3 p.m. to issue the bench warrant for Reyes Jr., who was busted on the new misdemeanor charges last Friday and posted $3,500 bail. Reyes had already been free on $25,000 bail on the manslaughter charge.

The father-and-son duo allegedly raided the dead woman’s apartment after Reyes Sr., the building superintendent, called a locksmith to pop the lock in order to fix a water leak.

Reyes Sr. was arrested on June 26. He, too, was charged with petit larceny, and is due in court on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the teen faces up to 15 years behind bars on manslaughter, assault and other charges for plowing into the little girl and her grandmother, Katia Gutierrez, on the Upper West Side while fleeing police in his parents’ Nissan SUV.

Ariel died after a four-minute ambulance delay, while Gutierrez was seriously injured.

Judge Gregory Carro, who is presiding over the manslaughter case, could rescind Reyes Jr.’s $25,000 bail because of Wednesday’s no-show.

The teen’s attorney, Martin Schmukler, didn’t return calls seeking comment.
