Rams QB Sam Bradford tears ACL, done for year

The Rams’ worst nightmare has happened again.

Sam Bradford, who missed nine games last season after having surgery on his ACL, has again torn an ACL and is finished for the season, according to ESPN.

The former No. 1 pick went down Saturday night, grabbing the same left knee he injured last season after being hit by Browns defensive lineman Armonty Bryant in the first quarter.

He walked gingerly off the field on his own volition, and while St. Louis must have been concerned given his history, the team appeared positive after the game.

“I’m very optimistic for his quick return,” Rams coach Jeff Fisher told reporters after the preseason game. “…He’s fine, he’s upbeat. We’ll see.”

The Rams now will have some decisions to make. Their backup quarterback is well-traveled Shaun Hill, and they may test the trade market, as well.

An intriguing possibility for St. Louis is holding the clipboard in Philadelphia. The Rams’ offensive coordinator is Brian Schottenheimer, who ran the Jets’ offense while Mark Sanchez was under center in New York.

The Eagles backup QB has eyes on being a starter.
