Pic shows: Small dog is being carried by its owner in a new gadget made in Japan- the pa-pooch. Pet lovers in Japan have dreamed up a new gadget to carry their beloved miniature dogs around - the pa-pooch. Based on papoose carriers for babies, small dogs can be carried in comfort by their owners wherever they go. Padded straps and sheepskin liners are even available to provide a VIP - that's Very Important Pup - service. "They are fabulous because unlike a normal dog carrier they aren't shut in and they have a good view of what's going on around them," said one fan. "Dogs love it as they feel close to their owner, they are kept warm and feel loved. It means you can take your dog with you anywhere." But social network critics have branded the holders - which sell for up to 100 GBP a time - cruel after -pictures of them in use on Tokyo's subway emerged. "That dog in the picture doesn't look very happy. Dogs don't like to be strapped up and in. Dogs have legs and need the exercise. People shouldn't treat their dogs like babies. "What's wrong with a lead?" asked one. Another said: "This is animal cruelty. The dogs do not look comfortable, they are unable to move and are being denied the right to exercise. Dogs need to run around." (ends)
