Pedestrian killed by drunk driver in Queens

An alleged drunk driver fatally struck a pedestrian in Queens early Saturday, cops said.

Romulo Mejia, 42, of Bradenton, FL was traveling eastbound on Roosevelt Avenue in Elmhurst when he slammed into a man near 92nd Street at around 4:30 a.m., cops said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The driver was taken into police custody and charges are pending, police said. The driver and his 35-year-old female companion were sent to Elmhurst Hospital for minor injuries, cops said.

The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
