Tom Coughlin booed loudly after Giants win

And you thought Rex Ryan was the most hated pro football head coach from New York?

Tom Coughlin was vociferously booed during his entire post-game on-field press conference following the Hall of Fame Game preseason opener Sunday night in Canton, Ohio.

“Seven and nine, Coughlin. Deal with it,” one fan yelled, referring to the Giants record last season.

It was odd, considering this was a meaningless preseason game, and Coughlin has no ties in Ohio. The boo-storm presumably came from Bills fans, but why?

Perhaps, they are still angered by Super Bowl XXV 24 years ago, when the Giants edged the Bills, 20-19, and Coughlin was a wide receivers coach? Coughlin even has ties to the Buffalo area, having grown up in Waterloo, N.Y., and starred in college at Syracuse.

Maybe, the fans had money on the over (34) – and were angry Coughlin sat on the ball for the final minute-plus?

Coughlin gave the fans their money’s worth, playing his starters more than most coaches in the Hall of Fame Game. Eli Manning played into the second quarter.
