8 things to watch this week

1. Starring Rock Hudson

Movie marathon Thursday on TCM

Doris Day and Rock Hudson star in “Pillow Talk.”Everett Collection

• Pillow Talk (8 p.m., TCM)

• Lover Come Back (10 p.m., TCM)

• Send Me No Flowers (12 a.m., TCM)

• Come September (1:45 a.m., TCM)

• Man’s Favorite Sport (3:45 a.m., TCM)

No one ever seemed to notice that Rock Hudson wasn’t all that into his leading ladies. They were pretty, in that 1960s way, with plenty of Maybelline and hair-sprayed coiffures. Seeing hunky Rock, they understanably threw themselves at him. The joke was that their efforts to seduce him were met with indifference. Not surprisingly, constant virgin Doris Day was most often cast beside him, in the hit comedies “Pillow Talk,” “Lover Come Back” and “Send Me No Flowers.” They’re all very silly mindless mind candy, with Tony Randall as a great second banana. The studios also paired him with starlet Paula Prentiss in “Man’s Favorite Sport?,” in which Rock looks vaguely amused by this frisky girl who is prepared to give him lots of attention. They even tried a foreign actress — Gina Lollobrigida, the road-show version of Sophia Loren — but Rock just stood there doing what he did: being tall, dark and manly.

As Diane’s due date approaches, Chelsey kidnaps her and gives her a labor-inducing drug, forcing Diane to deliver the baby. Chelsey takes off with the newborn and Diane is found alive. Sick, right? It’s not enough that the baby is stolen; it also has a rare congenital condition that needs to be treated. Or else. Diane and Rob spring into action.
