Could Weird Al perform at the Super Bowl?

The Super Bowl could get weird this year.

Thousands of Weird Al Yankovic fans have signed a petition launched on Change.org this week imploring the NFL to ask the parody legend to perform at the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show.

If organizer Ed Ball has his way, fans in attendance at University of Phoenix Stadium on February 1 could find themselves rocking to Weird Al hits such as “Tacky,” “Amish Paradise” and “Polka Face.”

As of Thursday morning, 47,558 people have expressed their love for the legendary weird one and signed the online petition.

“Having him headline the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show would not only be overly accepted by the millions of views, but it would remain true to the standards and quality of the show business we have come to love and respect out of this prestigious event,” he wrote in the petition.

Ball admitted he may have been quite tipsy at the time he submitted the request, but added that he didn’t need to be wasted to enjoy parodies of Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.”

“I would get the same gratification seeing Weird Al perform at the Super Bowl even if I was sober,” he wrote.

“Furthermore, I do not want to sit through another Black Eyed Peas disaster or see Nicki Minaj verbal vomit some lyrics that I cannot understand. And do you want Miley Cyrus?!? Because this is how you will end up with Miley Cyrus!!!”

Bashing Super Bowls in the past, Ball mentioned how many people who watch the winter spectacle don’t truly care who wins or loses, especially if the score is completely lopsided.

“What did you remember most? I’m betting it was typically the humorous commercials or some kick a** halftime performance,” Ball wrote.

“Why not combine the two?”
