From ‘Homeland’ to ‘Wolf Hall’

When Nicholas Brody was hung last season on Showtime’s “Homeland,” people wondered where Damian Lewis, the Emmy-winning actor who made such an indelible impression on the show, would next surface, as “Downton Abbey” seemed adequately outfitted with Lords and Sirs and footmen.

It turns out that Lewis has indeed chosen a period piece. He will play King Henry VIII in the six-part miniseries of Hilary Mantel’s novel “Wolf Hall.” Mantel won the Booker Prize for her novel, which chronicles the relationship between Henry and his diabolical adviser Thomas Cromwell, who will be played by British theater actor Mark Rylance.
