3 reasons to love Meghan Trainor

‘I need a title for my album,” Meghan Trainor tells The Post. “You got anything? I was thinking of maybe ‘Hey Dad — I Made It!’” She’s a cheeky one, but the up-and-coming pop star has a charm that’s hard to resist. Her bubble gum hit “All About That Bass” is burning up the Billboard Top 10 (it hit No. 4 this week) and the 20-year-old singer — who grew up in Nantucket but now lives in Nashville — could end up the next Katy Perry. Here are three reasons to love Meghan Trainor.

1. She’s all about a positive message.

With lyrics like “I ain’t no size two/But I can shake it, shake it like I’m supposed to do,” “All About That Bass” is an empowering celebration of full-figured ladies. “I went to a show in Kansas and I met some girls who came up me,” Trainor recalls. “They said the song was inspirational and it made them feel pretty. It made me tear up!”

2. She’s helping her friends become famous, too.

The co-star of the video for “All About That Bass” is Sione Maraschino, a plus-size dancer whose moves have made him a star on Vine and who almost steals the show from Trainor. “I get asked about him all the time,” she laughs.

3. She makes a point of standing out from the crowd.

Although she landed a songwriting deal right out of high school and has penned tracks for the likes of country legends Rascal Flatts and Disney star Sabrina Carpenter, Trainor was initially apprehensive about moving up to center stage. “I didn’t want to be a pop star because I don’t look thin like Rihanna and the other pop stars,” she explains. “But then I wrote ‘All About That Bass’ and realized that sass can get you just as far as sex.”
