Cops save suffocating baby

NYPD cops saved a newborn baby that was suffocating in Brooklyn.

The frantic mother, 32, called 911 when her 2-week-old baby stopped breathing Sunday in their Bensonhurst home on 74th Street, cops said.

Officer Elias Khan was nearby and on patrol when he got the radio call around 11:15 p.m., cops said.

Khan saw the baby was turning blue and kicked into action. He first made sure there wasn’t anything obstructing the infant’s airway and then turned him over, facing down at an angle.

He then pressed several times on the baby’s back and about 10-15 seconds later the baby started breathing and crying, cops said.

In the meantime, sergeant Michael Dario had radioed to expedite an ambulance to the house.

The baby was rushed to Maimonides Hospital for treatment, cops said.

No criminality is suspected, cops said.
