A pair of heartless thieves slugged an elderly woman, knocked her down and snatched her purse as she slowly pushed a cart full of groceries to her Jamaica home, police said.
But feisty 73-year-old victim Patricia Tomitz told pals that she would have fought back — if she hadn’t been so shocked.
“She said she could have beaten the girl up because she was short and twiggy,’’ said Tomitz’s neighbor and friend, Eleanor Caldwell.
The brazen Tuesday afternoon attack at 153rd Street and 88th Avenue was caught on surveillance video.
It shows a young man and woman following the unsuspecting Tomitz before the man punches her and the woman wins the tug-of-war over her purse, which contained her cell phone and $100.
The suspects then ran off.
An off-duty NYPD detective was nearby and tried to chase them but couldn’t catch up.
Tomitz was treated for a laceration to her ear and abrasions to her arm at Jamaica Hospital, according to authorities.
