Bratton announces pilot program for cops to use body cameras

Commissioner Bill Bratton is set to give a presentation to union officials Thursday about a pilot program for the use of body cameras on some NYPD officers, sources said.

Bratton studied the use of cameras in other cities and is ready to begin the small initiative with about 50 officers, according to law-enforcement sources.

Supporters claim the cameras can prevent police misconduct, as well as protect officers against false allegations.
