Actor Mark Ruffalo to endorse Teachout over Cuomo

The Hulk is taking on Gov. Cuomo!

Actor Mark Ruffalo, who played the Hulk in the Avengers movie, is expected to announce Wednesday that he’s endorsing underdog Zephyr Teachout over incumbent Andrew Cuomo in the Sept. 9 Democratic primary for governor, The Post has learned.

Ruffalo is a staunch anti-fracking activist who opposes using the controversial deep drilling technique to unearth natural gas in upstate New York’s Marcellus Shale region.

Cuomo has avoided taking a stand on the issue, saying his administration is still studying the potential health impact of fracking.

Teachout opposes fracking.

The Teachout campaign Tuesday night declined comment on whether it’s picking up Ruffalo’s support. But an unspecified campaign announcement is planned for Wednesday, an insider said.

Ruffalo has promoted Teachout and running mate Tim Wu in posts on his Tumblr and Twitter sites.

On Aug. 26, he posted a video of Teachout and provides a link to a column that talks up scenarios of the little-known insurgent pulling off an upset.

The actor-director also on Aug. 20 posted on Twitter: “With major decisions on fracking and renewable energy coming after the election, who would you endorse @zephyrteachout or @nygovcuomo”

He also will back Wu over Cuomo’s running mate, former Buffalo-area Rep. Kathy Hochul, for lieutenant governor.

“Hey New Yorkers, this is incredible . . . Timothy Wu for lieutenant governor,” he said in an Aug. 28 tweet that linked to a New York Times endorsement of Wu.
