Cops save residents, dog from Queens fire

Two uniformed cops on routine patrol saved residents and pooch from a fire in Queens, authorities said.

Officers Edwin Diaz and Christopher Sarinaccio saw smoke pouring out of a front window apartment on Fresh Pond Road, near 68th Avenue around 11:35 a.m., Thursday and called the FDNY to respond, police said.

While firefighter rushed to the scene, Diaz and Sarinaccio went inside the building where they helped a woman in her 40s and the woman’s adolescent daughter escape the fire, which started in their third-floor apartment, cops added.

The officers then canvassed the building and knocked on doors to make sure all of the other resident were out, according to police.

No other people were inside but the cops found a Boxer on the second-floor and got the dog to safety as well.

No serious injuries were reported and no victims needed hospitalization, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
