Godfrey to host ‘MSG Countdown’ series

Comedian Godfrey will host “MSG Countdown,” premiering this Monday (9 p.m.) on MSG. The 10-episode, half-hour series will recap unforgettable moments from the last 40 years of Garden history involving the Knicks and Rangers.

In addition to his own Comedy Central stand-up special, Godfrey has appeared on “30 Rock” and “Louie” and on the big screen in “Johnson Family Vacation,” “The Cookout” and “Soul Plane.”

More TV comedy: Actor/comedian Ron Funches, who stars as Shelly on NBC’s “Undateable,” continues his run at Caroline’son Broadway through Sunday. He’ll be followed by Donnell Rawlings(“Chappelle’s Show,” “Guy Code”) Aug. 7-10 and Todd Barry(FX’s “Louie”) Aug. 15 and 16.

And in the old “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out” category, E! will send off Chelsea Handler — who famously bad-mouthed the network before inking a deal with Netflix — with a month-long “celebration” of her seven years hosting “Chelsea Lately.” It starts Monday, Aug. 4 (11 p.m.).

He knows the score

You might not know his name, but you definitely know his work — especially if you’re a fan of “Sex and the City.”

Native New Yorker Bob Christianson was the most called-upon composer for the late, lamented HBO series, and he’s garnered an Emmy nomination for his work scoring the PBS special “A Christmas Carol — The Concert,” in particular for the song “No Trouble”(he wrote the music, with lyrics by Alisa Hauser). It was nominated for Outstanding Music and Lyrics.

Christianson, who was previously nominated for his music for ABC Sports telecasts, has also scored Discovery shows including “Secrets of the National Parks” and “The Blue Angels — A Year in the Life.”
