Neiman Marcus coming to Manhattan’s Hudson Yards

It’s official: Neiman Marcus is finally coming to Manhattan.

The swanky retailer announced Wednesday it’s opening a luxury store to anchor the giant Hudson Yards development that’s being built on the far West Side, confirming an exclusive March 27 report in The Post.

The 250,000-square-foot, multilevel shop is slated to open in fall 2018, anchoring a million-square-foot shopping complex being developed by Related Cos.

Fashion insiders had speculated for decades about whether New York City would ever see a Neiman Marcus store. One big reason for doubt had been the fact that Dallas-based Neiman already owns Bergdorf Goodman on Fifth Avenue.

In recent seasons, however, Manhattan has become such a luxury mecca for tourists that retailers have grown more confident about demand despite the sky-high rents.

Seattle-based Nordstrom is also slated to open a flagship store on West 57th Street in 2018, anchoring a skyscraper to be built by Extell that’s planned to rise 1,775 feet.

Real-estate insiders say Neiman’s bet on the West Side could be a bigger gamble, noting the Hudson Yards are in an oddball district that’s relatively far away from public transportation.

“They’re saying, ‘We believe in New York, we believe in luxury and we believe in the West Side,’” said Faith Hope Consolo, chairman of retail leasing at Prudential Douglas.
