This summer was notable for its relatively moderate temperatures — but WCBS-FM had a scorching August.
For the first time in nearly 20 years, the oldies station — led by morning-drive guy Scott Shannon — finished first in August among adults 25-54, the “money” demo most valued by advertisers.
Overall, WCBS notched a 6.8 share of the New York listening audience, which was up 10 percent over July and up a whopping 20 percent from August 2013, according to Nielsen Audio ratings released Tuesday.
CBS-FM also finished strongly in other demos led by Shannon, midday DJ Dan Taylor, Broadway Bill Lee in the afternoons and Joe Causi at night.
Shannon joined CBS-FM last March after a 23-year career at WPLJ, where he hosted the “Scott & Todd Morning Show” with Todd Pettengill, who’s now hosting solo.
