Ashanti ‘stalker’ gets misdemeanor charges dismissed

A Manhattan judge dismissed four counts of aggravated harassment against singer Ashanti’s accused stalker, Devar Hurd, Thursday after an appellate court ruled that the charge is vague and unconstitutional.

Hurd was busted last August for sending hundreds of “sexually explicit” Twitter messages to the R&B singer.

The Windy City wacko served a stint in jail after a 2010 conviction for sending crotch shots to the singer’s mom.

The dismissal of the lesser misdemeanor charges have little bearing on the sentence Hurd could face if convicted at trial because the top count against him is felony stalking.

But it could make it harder for Manhattan prosecutors to try the case, said Hurd’s defense lawyer, Glenn Hardy.

“It makes the DA’s burden that much more difficult because stalking incorporates to some extent being in fear of physical harm and the tweets that I‘ve reviewed do not indicate there was any threat of violence,” Hardy said.
