For the NYC screening of “Love Is Strange,” Tomei paired a chocolate ribbed asymmetrical sweater with an ankle-length black paneled skirt, finishing it with a single oversize bracelet and navy clutch.

On someone else, those words together could equal “ew,” but Tomei possesses the polish and élan to make this the most chic and understated outfit of the week.

Rihanna

Rihanna stepped out in NYC wearing an Alexander Wang tank top with pinstriped Haider Ackermann trousers and a covetable Balenciaga crocodile bag.

The pared-down menswear vibe really works for the pop star. Keep it up, RiRi — you’re on a roll!

The misses:

Heidi Klum

At an “America’s Got Talent” event in NYC, the German model proved she’s in no short supply of budget-looking shimmery short dresses. Combined with the earrings, the bangles, and the belt, it’s all a bit too much.

Besides, you’re a 41-year-old mother of four, Heidi, not running out to meet LiLo at Up & Down.

What’s the worst thing about this deranged look Ms. Ora sported to a DKNY event in NYC — the choppy peroxide hair, the clown makeup, the droopy tinfoil dress or the ugly platform sneakers?
