Don’t look down!

Two window washers in Austria experienced the scare of a lifetime when the cradle they were standing on malfunctioned and left them dangling 472 feet (144 meters) in the air.

The unlucky pair was in the middle of cleaning windows Sunday on the 48th floor of the DC Tower 1 in Vienna when something went terribly wrong. The washers’ hanging walkway slanted steeply to the side, the Guardian reports.

Pictures of the frightening close call show one of the workers in a fluorescent jacket as the worker tightly holds onto a raised edge on the walkway.

Luckily, a team of 30 firefighters secured the broken platform with extra cables and helped the stranded duo to safety.

The DC Tower 1 is Austria’s tallest skyscraper and stands at 820 feet.
