Knicks could offer Prigioni to unload Ellington: report

On the eve of the NBA Draft, the Knicks acquired Wayne Ellington and Shane Larkin from the Mavericks. Now, the Knicks reportedly are looking to trade Ellington — who is owed $2.77 million this season — for roster flexibility, but may have to part with a popular Garden fixture to sweeten the deal.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Knicks are considering attaching Pablo Prigioni to a potential Ellington trade. ESPN reported Larkin is another possibility to go on the block in a trade package.

Prigioni and Larkin would compete for backup point guard minutes behind Jose Calderon. In comments last month, general manager Steve Mills referred to the Knicks’ surplus of guards.

“We’re trying to build a roster that has a little bit better balance than it looks right now,” he said.
