PayPal executive leaves company after obscene Twitter meltdown

It’s been four days since a now-former PayPal executive started his Jazz Fest-induced boozy Twitter rant, and he’s not done yet.

Rakesh Agrawal, who was only recently hired as the director of strategy for PayPal, went on a tirade over the weekend, tweeting dozens of misspelled insults at fellow tech colleagues, starting late Friday — but promised Monday to explain his odd behavior.

In a Jerry McGuire-type exit, Agrawal appears to be starting his own company under the name Redesign Mobile, a “#differentkindofcompany.”

That includes himself, his assistant and her young daughter.

Agrawal clearly isn’t afraid to call people out, posting expletive-ridden tweets to many Silicone Valley bigwigs including Christina Smedley — the vice president of communications at PayPal, whom he called a “useless middle manager” and a “piece of s—t.”

But he later deleted many of the tweets and tried to explain.

PayPal confirmed via Twitter on Saturday that Agrawal is no longer with the company.

But Agrawal fired back early Saturday, saying his former employer’s tweet was “factually correct but utterly misleading,” as he claims to have resigned before his rant began. He posted a picture of his resignation letter just to prove it.

His sometimes-cryptic tweets have mentioned his lack of sleep, likely from his time spent at New Orleans Jazz Fest this past weekend.
