Tuberculosis patient gets ankle bracelet after refusing quarantine

Stay home sick — or go to jail!

A wayward tuberculosis patient in Champaign, Ill., must wear an ankle bracelet and stay home for 30 days for disobeying a judge’s initial order to be quarantined.

Christian Mbemba Ibanda, 24, was diagnosed with active pulmonary tuberculosis — a contagious bacterial infection — but has refused orders to isolate himself.
