Networks claim victories with TV season ending

Something for (almost) everyone, I guess.

With the 2013-14 TV season drawing to a close, the networks are claiming their victories, if they have any — and ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox all issued self-congratulatory releases Tuesday patting themselves on the back for a job well done.

NBC claimed the season’s victory in prime-time, averaging 9.3 million viewers, up an impressive 33 percent from last season with shows like “Sunday Night Football,” “The Voice” and “The Blacklist” (starring James Spader and Megan Boone).

CBS, meanwhile, won the season in total viewers (10.8 million) for the sixth straight year with hits like “The Big Bang Theory,” “How I Met Your Mother” and “NCIS” (TV’s top-rated series), and also beat everyone in adults 18-49 and 25-54.

ABC had its first May sweeps win (adults 18-49) in 14 years, but averaged only 7.6 total viewers for the season — over 3 million less eyeballs than NBC.

The best Fox could muster was its 14th consecutive victory in adults 18-34. It finished second in adults 18-49 and averaged 4.2 million total viewers.

It’s a Chelsea market

Late-night host Chelsea Handler is set to leave E! at year’s end and she’s in play — which means that people pay attention to what she says (and she’s always quotable). Handler is featured in the June issue of More magazine and shares her thoughts. On marriage: “I’m not getting married right now, but in 10 years or even five, if I met somebody I was really in love with, I wouldn’t mind being married once … I don’t see it going very long.”

On being famous: “The life I live now is better than any life I could have imagined.”

On the perception that she’s a drunk: “I kind of love that people think that. Yes, I like to drink … but I don’t walk around s- -t faced.”

Meanwhile,“Hannibal” star Hugh Dancy tells People magazine that he and wife Claire Danes (“Homeland”) discovered an unexpected side of ex-NY mayor Michael Bloomberg, “who turned out to be surprisingly funny,” Dancy says. “It’s not necessarily the first adjective that would spring to mind for him.”

Last, but not least …

The cast of WPLJ’s “The Todd Show” goes live Friday (6-10 a.m./95.5 FM) from Jenkinson’s Pavilion in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ: performances by Magic, Hot Chelle Rae, The Fray and Kacey Musgraves … Throwback: “Starsky & Hutch” and “Knight Rider” begin airing Monday (8 p.m.) on COZI TV … “Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik and Dr. Ruth Westheimer are helping to publicize the 50th anniversary of the Celebrate Israel Parade (June 1) in online vignettes (youtube.com/user/celebrateisraelny).
