Gunman tackled by bystander after opening fire in Brooklyn

A parole officer helped nab a gunman who opened fire on a crowded Brooklyn street, police said.

The unidentified good Samaritan heard shots around 2:05 p.m. Wednesday and ran to the corner of Livingston and Nevins streets in Downtown Brooklyn, witnesses said.

A man in his 20s was struck in the leg and grazed in the head outside a convenience store, officials said. He was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, authorities said.

“I heard two or three pops,” one witness told the Post. “Everybody was running. A guy was laying on the ground. He got shot in the knee. He was bleeding from his head and he had a graze on his temple.”

The victim was calm while onlookers panicked an ducked for cover.

One man, a parole officer working nearby, ran toward the melee and, before cops could respond, tackled the gunman and took him into his office until police arrived, police and witnesses said.

Charges against the shooter are pending.
