These well-dressed pups are Instagram’s new fashion stars

Models, photographers, stylists, bloggers, editors, art directors — in fashion, everyone has a decent Instagram account. Yet none of them can top the social network’s stylish dogs.

Because while photos of Cara Delevingne’s hangover and Karlie Kloss’ breakfast may spark pangs of annoyance or envy, there’s nothing un-“like”-able about a French bulldog wearing a sombrero.

So here are the pups everyone should be following, and why they’re more chic than you.

They’re always on trend

Digby Van Winkle (@digbyvanwinkle) and his brother Aloysius are arguably the most stylish creatures from New Zealand (Lorde who?), and certainly the cuddliest. Like true fashion peeps the sibling Griffons love selfies, sunglasses and white wine. They especially love props and directional concepts.

Here, Digby works one of the upcoming season’s most surprising trends — Star Wars, as seen on the fall 2014 Preen and Rodarte runways — months before the clothes hit stores.

But are equally concerned with timelessness

Trotter (@trotterpup) is a San Francisco-based French bulldog, and the Carine Roitfeld of canines. (Except he’s a he — all the more transgressive and Carine-like, n’est pas?) His casual yet commanding presence makes him the perfect model for classic accessories.

The Frenchie is fond of wigs, baubles and big romantic hats. His kindred spirit is Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz, who most likely looked to the pooch as inspiration for his fall 2014 collection.

His fashion sense is so strong it’s — dare we say — iconic?

They can rough it in style

It’s not all frills for Instagram’s posh pups. Gus and Travis McCombie (@ifitwags), brother German shorthaired pointers, relish the rugged landscapes of their native Vancouver. They also use it as a backdrop for some fetching utilitarian fashions.

Not long after Tommy Hilfiger put on an outdoorsy fall 2014 runway show, Gus was all about flaunting similar fur-trimmed parkas and hiking boots.

But clearly prefer couture

If you were harboring any doubts that poodles are still the princesses of the canine kingdom, meet Maron and Fleur (@muraiyo), two Japan-based divas who rock Louis Vuitton and Burberry like it’s no one’s business.

When it comes to pedigree these dogs are couture — they have Schiaparelli stripes and poufy ’dos to prove it.

They love menswear

This Shiba Inu (@mensweardog) has become GQ’s unofficial mascot, and it’s easy to see why. Often spotted strolling around Soho, Bodhi works his ties, beanies and baseball jackets better than any old anthropoid editor.

As such, he obviously got spring’s Hawaiian shirt memo, and like any insider he got it from Prada.

But, above all, they are paradigms of versatility

Say what you will — the crème de la crème of well-dressed dogs is a teeny Japanese Chihuahua named Montjiro (@montjiro). He doesn’t just get fashion — he IS fashion and with his petit frame and severe facial structure can pull off absolutely anything.

Above, Montjiro flaunts international jet set references from Anna Sui’s spring 2012 runway — jacket, shades, headscarf, the works. But that’s not all he’s serving.

He also loves a demure dandy look à la Ralph Lauren fall 2012

And if you’re still not convinced of Montjiro’s style supremacy, note how easily he dishes out archival origami chic as seen at 2007’s John Galliano-era Christian Dior Couture show. Bam.
