Israel knocks out Gaza plant, kills more than 100 Palestinians

Israel unleashed a ferocious attack on Hamas targets Tuesday, knocking out Gaza’s only power plant, leveling the house of a top terrorist and shelling Palestinian radio and TV stations.

At least 109 Palestinians were killed, bringing the death toll to about 1,210 on the 22nd day of fighting.

Also Tuesday, Hamas fighters burst from one of the many tunnels the terror group has dug under the border and killed five Israeli soldiers with antitank missiles.

Israeli soldiers nearby returned fire, killing or wounding one of the infiltrators before the survivors escaped back to Gaza.

In a predawn raid, Israeli fired a missile at the house of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, destroying the structure while he was away.

Like most Hamas leaders, Haniyeh has kept out of the line of fire, unlike the vast majority of the enclave’s 1.7 million residents.
