Per a new interview in Allure Magazine, “Orange Is the New Black” star Taylor Schilling would like us all to believe she’d trade red carpet glam for the grungy prison attire on her hit show any day.
A life without makeup touch-ups is “totally liberating,” she tells the beauty magazine.
The most that is required for her show is a little bit of concealer, a touch of foundation and smudging around the eyes to fake dark circles. And on some shoot days she’ll even skip a shower.
That would all be believable, had it not been for these ten spellbinding red carpet looks.
Schilling may not want to conform to the Hollywood standards of beauty, but she does it oh-so-well.
White Hot
For the Netflix “Women Ruling TV” panel on June 5 — a name clearly inspired by her ability to suck us into her addictive show— the actress chose a white A.L.C. dress paired with a Rebecca Minkoff clutch and statement-making hot pink Casadei pumps.
This look merges sophistication and fun.
Glamorous Gal
Schilling was set on being the belle of the ball at Glamour magazine’s Women of the Year Awards on June 3. She turned to her good pal Peter Pilotto’s creative output for this shimmery design.
The Color Complex
Not everyone can pull off a crazy array of colors, especially on the bottom half, but Schilling does so here with ease. The star scores again in a paint-splatter printed dress by Sportmax.
Orange lips — a nod to the show, perhaps? — played well with the look.
Geisha Goddess
You’ve got to love an actress who isn’t afraid to take a risk. For her show’s second season premiere in May, Schilling took on a whole solar system in this black and gray psychedelic geisha design by Monique Lhuillier.
Political Primp
The 29-year-old took on the political scene in Washington D.C. at the 100th Annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner in May. The demure actress chose a floor-grazing midnight blue gown by Zuhair Murad.
Gorgeous in Green
For the 2014 Golden Globes in January, Schilling walked the red carpet in a striking emerald green gown designed by Thakoon. A head full of bouncy curls and a decadent pair of chandelier earrings completed the look.
Dark and Stormy
She called on her friend Thakoon Panichgul again for a dark trouser look for the CFDA Fashion Fund Finalists event in December 2013. Slicked back hair and a set of smokey eyes drove the message home.
Subtle Sophistication
In case you forgot, Schilling has a fine grip on this whole conservative fashion thing.
The actress attended the Reel Stories, Real Lives event in April wearing a burgundy capelet dress by Roksanda Illincic. Color block heels by Christian Louboutin kicked the look into high gear.
Tempting in Black
Schilling continued to rule at a Hollywood Reporter bash in November 2013. The actress killed in a bodycon LBD by Zuhair Murad.
Flirty Floral Fun
With perfectly styled hair, Schilling impressed all in a white Zuhair Murad dress with a floral stenciled design for a fashion event in October 2013.
