Islanders splash $36 million on a pair of goal scorers

The Islanders have turned to a pair of former Maple Leafs in an effort to boost their offense.

Mikhail Grabovski signed a four-year, $20 million deal and Nikolai Kulemin came aboard for four years and $16.75 million Wednesday afternoon.

The 30-year-old Grabovski played 58 games for the Capitals last season, tallying 35 points. He had been with Toronto from 2008-2013, but was bought out after the season and signed a one-year contract with Washington.

Kulemin, 27, had spent his entire career with the Maple Leafs, beginning in 2008. He appeared in 70 games for Toronto last season and scored 20 points.

The two performed well together for the Maple Leafs in the 2010-11 season, when Kulemin scored 30 goals and Grabovski notched 29.
