Pope Francis might visit US in 2015

Mayor de Blasio’s prayers have been answered — Pope Francis is considering including New York on his itinerary if he travels to the United States next year.

The pope confirmed Monday that he’s looking into visiting three American cities in September 2015: Philadelphia for a family rally, Washington to address Congress and New York to speak at the United Nations.

Francis said he’d consider adding Mexico to the itinerary to visit the Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine beloved by Mexican Catholics.

Francis made the comments to reporters on his flight back to the Vatican from South Korea.

De Blasio has extended multiple invitations to the pope to visit the Big Apple, most recently on his trip to Italy last month when he told a Vatican representative that it would be “an extraordinary moment for our city” if Francis came.
