Craig Ferguson is getting a new talk show

Craig Ferguson is set to step down from CBS’ “The Late Late Show” come December, but he may not be leaving the talk show game all together.

The Scottish comedian is in final negotiations to host a 7 p.m. syndicated talk show on Tribune stations, Variety reports. The daily half-hour show is being eyed for a fall 2015 launch.

“Late Late Show” executive producer Michael Naidus would follow Ferguson to the new show, according to Variety, which would be a blend of talk show and comedy elements.

A Tribune spokesperson declined to comment.

Ferguson has held the 12:35 a.m. spot on CBS for 10 years, and announced his plans to step down last April after Stephen Colbert was chosen to succeed David Letterman at “The Late Show.” The host has been vague about his future plans, but told Larry King in an interview last month that he would be open to doing another talk show.

“Yeah, I would, but not right away,” he said. “I would do another one. I just don’t want to do this one anymore.”

He is already set as the host of the upcoming syndicated game show “Celebrity Name Game,” which premieres in September and will also air on Tribune stations.
