Celebrity impersonation singer says song was a hoax

An incredible viral video in which a singer impersonates 29 different celebrities during one song has been exposed as a hoax.

Rob Cantor, the singer who appears in the video, has revealed the entire thing was a fake after fooling the Internet into thinking he had sung the entire song in just one cut.

The video, “29 Celebrity Impressions, 1 Original Song,” has so far received over 7 million hits and counting.

Cantor hired 11 impressionists and one trumpet player for the video and lip-synched while other people sang impressions of celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Adam Sandler, Shakira, Chrisopher Walken, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Smeagol/Gollum.

Now he’s fessed up and revealed how he did it in a follow-up clip.

Cantor told Jezebel he was just looking for a clever way to promote his music — and it worked.

“We thought a video in which I do a bunch of impossibly good impressions would be an amusing thing to see.

“I just wanted to make something that would be fun to watch and spread my music.”
