‘Dumbo’ to fly again in live-action remake

Dumbo flies again!

Everyone’s favorite flying elephant will soon be making a return to the silver screen in a live-action remake of the 1941 animated classic.

Disney is currently developing the Dumbo retake and has brought in “Transformers” franchise writer Ehren Kruger to write the script, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Justin Springer, whose works include “Oblivion” and “TRON: Legacy,” will be joining Kruger as a producer.

The original story of Dumbo focuses on a baby circus elephant who is sensitive about his giant floppy ears.

Receiving help from a magical feather and the most unlikely of animals, Timothy the mouse, Dumbo discovers that his uniquely large appendages are what make him so special, allowing him to soar the skies with ease.

Kruger plans to add several family elements to the original 64-minute long story, and will be relying on the incredibly advanced CG technology to help bring Dumbo to life.

Disney has been successful with other live-action remakes including “Maleficent” and “Alice in Wonderland.”

They don’t plan on stopping any time soon, either.

Disney also plans to release a live-action adaptation of “Cinderella” in March and is currently in pre-production for the retelling of “The Jungle Book”, and also has plans for a remake of Beauty and the Beast.
