Three Times Square characters busted asking tourists for money

Three annoying Times Square costumed characters were busted on Wednesday night after asking tourists to pony up money for pictures with them, sources said.

Carmen Dinegro, 47, who was dressed as Minnie Mouse, Eimer Perales, 42, who was Woody from “Toy Story,” and Hugo Smith-Gomez, 34, who was wearing a Statue of Liberty ensemble, were arrested for unlawful solicitation. They had been asking tourists for $5 in tips around 8 p.m., law enforcement sources said.

The notorious buskers scoffed at the officers who arrested them.

“They’re jealous of us,” one character said to another as they were being busted, according to a police source. “That’s why they arrested us.”

Cops have been cracking down on the characters after a number of incidents, including one in which a costumed Spider-Man punched a cop in the face.

Officers have been handing out fliers to tourist in Times Square informing them that they are not required to tip the characters.

In response, the characters formed a union-like group to fight for their panhandling rights.
