Magic Johnson’s son sips Champagne, shops Chanel in ‘#RichKids’

Magic Johnson’s son, 22-year-old EJ, is on a boat.

Make that a 143-foot yacht.

“Yachting is my favorite pastime,” says the 6-foot-3 NYU student who looks like a young André Leon Talley in his Gucci chiffon caftan, gold Chanel pendant and glamazon shades.

“Whether it is Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, honey, yachting is always cute,” opines Johnson as he pours glasses of Dom for his fabulous friends.

It’s the premiere episode of “#RichKids of Beverly Hills” — and Johnson is making a splash.

The Birkin-loving diva, who had a handful of cameos on Season 1, is now a regular on the E! series about Beverly Hills’ millionaire spawn that starts its new season on Sunday.

While the show, which airs at 10 p.m., may be a shameless parade of Champagne, caviar and private-jet selfies, LA native Johnson says he and his co-stars are more than just a bunch of lazy little brats.

“If we really weren’t being productive, if we were really just doing nothing but sitting around and spending lots of money with no motivation, the show could be damaging to young people,” says Johnson, whose parents gave him a $120,000 Mercedes-Benz G63 for his 22nd birthday in June.

“But that’s not the case. We have all this privilege, but, you know, we’re trying to move past that and pave our way and make our own history and become our own moguls and own businesspeople,” the aspiring talk-show host and fashion designer tells The Post.

“I’m not just on the show to be obnoxious. This is a launchpad for me.”

Johnson quickly became a “#RichKids” fan favorite thanks to his larger-than-life persona — and his label-heavy closet.

“I have five or so Birkins,” says Johnson of the nearly $10,000-a-pop Hermès totes. “I don’t have that many. [Co-star] Dorothy [Wang] is the one with the really big collection.”

His Instagram account — which boasts 130,000 followers and the tag line, “Why be anything else when you can be THIS #teamthis” — is a lust-worthy peek inside the basketball heir’s over-the-top life. Think fashion shoots, bottle service and weekend jaunts to Miami in his Jean Paul Gaultier and Louboutin best.

It’s mind-spinning to think that Johnson, who grew up with his Lakers legend father, mother Cookie and younger sister Elisa, was once a quiet, shy child who blossomed onstage in his high school theater.

“He played a lot of video games,” says Elisa, 17, who used to torment her older brother by putting bananas near his face (he loathes the fruit, she says).

“But then he started getting into Barbies and stuff like that. And that’s when you knew he was going to be fabulous.”

Her sibling’s “fabulousness” received national attention when TMZ “outed” the Soho resident in April 2013 after catching a fur-clad Johnson on what they surmised was a date. (It wasn’t.)

The family gave their son, who came out to them privately at age 17, their full public support.

“I think anytime anyone has to come out, it’s definitely going to be a hard situation,” says the single E! star, who is currently “dating his career.”

“I was very grateful that they supported me 100 percent and had my back. It was really powerful.”

Johnson says his father, Magic, has always been a role model — even more so now that he’s navigating the celebrity terrain himself.

“Watching my dad have to deal with it since Day 1 has definitely given me perspective,” says the professional “Rich Kid.”

“He really never turns down an autograph or picture unless he’s eating or in the middle of something . . . he tells me it’s important to keep my image as positive and powerful as possible and to continue to be a role model to people and have a strong sense of business.”

While Magic’s fame affords Johnson a glamorous life complete with St-Tropez dinners with Beyoncé and Jay Z and a hefty allowance he won’t disclose — “It’s kind of tacky to talk about dollar amounts,” says Johnson — his parents try to instill a sense of normalcy.

Johnson, who still has one semester left at NYU, where he is studying hospitality and event planning, even lived in the dorms his freshman year.

“I bonded a lot with everyone that way. It was really important for me to do that,” says Johnson, adding, “Of course, it wasn’t the most glamorous experience of my life. But it was cute.”

Still, you can’t blame the kid for shooting for the stars.

“I asked for a ‘Millionaire Birkin’ one time,” admits Johnson. “The one with the diamond-encrusted hardware. It’s 200K.

“My mom laughed in my face and said, ‘No.’ ”
