This week’s couple: Date my friend, please!

Good dating karma isn’t a given — it’s earned by people like Jessica. The 29-year-old acupuncturist met Nicholas, a 33-year-old attorney, for brunch at the Hell’s Kitchen farm-to-table restaurant The Marshal. She appreciated Nicholas’ physical appearance and his taste in pets — but personality-wise, she didn’t think he was a good fit for her. Find out why Jessica thinks Nicholas is not her type, but might be just right for her pal.

She said:

When the hostess introduced me to Nicholas, I was happy he was tall, with nice arms — but he was nervous and seemed rigid.

Nicholas is pretty serious, so I tried to get him to smile naturally — but I was tired, which made me less chatty than usual. He has a corgi, and I love corgis, so we talked about his dog.

The Marshal was great. I ordered the lobster-and-bacon frittata and a kale salad. The drinks were tasty, too.

He’s very chatty, so I think he prefers girls who are a little less talkative — which is why I think he would be a better fit for my friend. I told him I wanted to set him up with her, and we exchanged information. I hope he’s not insulted — I’m protective of my friends, so it’s a compliment!

He said:

I got to The Marshal a couple minutes early. When Jessica arrived, I noticed she was attractive — tall with dark hair.

The Marshal’s brunch menu was great. They had duck bacon, which I’ve never seen before. The atmosphere was chill — everyone seemed to be having a good time.

Jessica is a good conversationalist. I mentioned I was a lawyer, so we ended up debating a lot, but I was also wary of having an argument on a first date. Overall, it was a less superficial conversation than a lot of discussions I’ve had on dates.

Jessica and I exchanged information, so we might hang out again. We had a good time talking and have some things in common.
