De Blasio to name PBS exec to city film office

Mayor Bill de Blasio is set to name a top PBS executive as the city’s next film and TV czar.

Cynthia Lopez, longtime executive producer of the station’s award-winning “Point of View” documentary series, will head the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting, according to an administration source.

In the role, Lopez will oversee an agency responsible for marketing the city as a location shoot and for dealing with permits and other film and TV production needs.

The announcement is expected when the mayor tours Steiner Studios in Brooklyn Friday.
