What happened to the ladies who left ‘The View’?

So whatever happened to Debbie Matenopoulos?

Fans of “The View” will get the chance to find out when Matenopoulos, along with six other former “View” co-hosts, will appear on the ABC daytime gabfest May 15 to honor series creator/host Barbara Walters — who’s retiring from the show after 17 years.

(Walters’ last day on “The View” will be Friday, May 16.)

Here’s a look at the women who have left “The View” — and how their careers have fared since their departures.

Debbie Matenopoulos (1997-99)

She has the dubious distinction of being the first “View” co-host to be shown the door. Now 39, Matenopoulos went on to co-host the syndicated show “Good Day Live” with Arthel Neville, but was injured after an on-air stunt went awry (she landed on an airbag the wrong way). Since then, she’s appeared on E! and VH1 — and returned to “The View” as a one-day guest host in 2006.

Lisa Ling (1999-2002)

Ling was brought in as Matenopoulos’ replacement, and had a five-season run on “The View.” She segued to reporting for “National Geographic Explorer” and was a correspondent for “Oprah.” Ling, 40, also hosts “Our America with Lisa Ling,” which has aired on OWN since 2011.

Star Jones (1997-2006)

Jones was the second original host to vamoose after nine seasons on the show — announcing her departure on the air. (Walters said she was “blindsided” by the news.) After leaving “The View” Jones, 52, hosted a short-lived talk show on truTV (“Star Jones”) and appeared on “Celebrity Apprentice.” She also married and divorced Al Reynolds and has written several books.

Rosie O’Donnell (2006-2007)

O’Donnell, 52, lasted one combustible season on “The View,” clashing often with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck (usually over politics) and engaging in a nasty public feud with Donald Trump — but driving the show to some of its best-ever ratings. After leaving, she started a video blog on her website, then hosted a daytime talk show on OWN, “The Rosie Show,” which was axed after five months.

Meredith Vieira (1997-2006)

The popular Vieira, an original “View” co-host, also concurrently hosted the syndicated version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” She left “The View” to join NBC’s “Today Show” opposite Matt Lauer. She held that job for five years and left “Millionaire” in 2013. This fall, Vieira, 60, will launch her own syndicated talk show, “The Meredith Vieira Show.”

Joy Behar (1997-2013)

Behar, 71, a stand-up comedian, concurrently hosted “The Joy Behar Show” on HLN from 2009-2011 and the short-lived “Joy Behar: Say Anything,” which aired on Current TV (now Al Jazeera America). She left “The View” last summer.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck (2003-2013)

The onetime “Survivor” contestant (when she was known as Elisabeth Filarski) replaced Lisa Ling. Hasselbeck, 36, left “The View” last summer and joined Fox News Channel’s morning show “Fox and Friends” as a co-host last September.
