Remembering the latest ‘True Blood’ victim

Warning: This article contains spoilers.

Sunday night’s premiere of the final season of “True Blood” started shockingly — killing off a major character within minutes.

Spoiler alert — Tara Thornton is no longer of this world. Played by Rutina Wesley, the fan favorite had already died once, but came back as a vampire thanks to her maker, Pam. She’ll have no such luck this time, now that she’s been slaughtered by a Hep-V-ridden vamp.

In memoriam, here’s a look back at Tara’s greatest moments on the series.

The time she lost her s - - t over the fake exorcist

Tara’s most important contribution to the series was rage. One of the earliest and best examples of this was Tara’s reaction after she realized she had been tricked into paying for a fake exorcism from Miss Jeanette.

When she sees Miss Jeanette stocking shelves at the drugstore, Tara literally snatches her wig, reaming her a new one.

“What the f - - k kind of person are you?” she snaps, in a classic Tara moment.

The time she gleefully fought Eggs

In the second season, Tara gets mixed up with the wrong crowd, finding herself under the spell of the very twisted Maryann. Maryann feeds Tara and her beau, Eggs, a souffle with a special ingredient: a human heart.

The result is a disturbing scene in which a bewitched Tara and Eggs jubilantly abuse one another.

The time she smashed Franklin’s head open

In Season 3, Tara is kidnapped and brutally raped by the vampire Franklin. In an epic revenge moment, Tara takes a spiked club to his head.

The first time she went gay

Having cut off her hair with a pair of scissors and skipped town, Tara’s got a whole new life.

It’s revealed at the beginning of Season 4 that Tara’s now exploring a different part of her sexuality — one that includes shacking up with a sexy lady friend, played by Vedette Lim.

The time she turned into a vampire and went nuts

One of Season 4 ‘s most shocking twists? Tara becoming a member of the undead.HBO (2)

At the end of Season 4, Tara proves she’s the ultimate BFF by taking a bullet for Sookie. Unfortunately, that means now she’s going to die.

So Sookie and Lafayette make the decision to get Pam to turn Tara into a vampire before it’s too late. When Tara wakes up and realizes what they’ve done, she goes absolute bats - - t. Not only does she break lots of things, she almost kills Sookie.

Still furious about being turned into a vampire, Tara decides to commit suicide by burning herself to death in a tanning bed.

It would’ve been a hilarious way to go, but Pam stops her before she can go through with it.

The time she saved — and tongue-locked — Pam

After her fling with Naomi, Tara shared a romantic moment with her maker, Pam.HBO/Everett Collection

Any time Tara and her maker Pam have interacted over the past two seasons has been sexual tension-fueled gold.

But the ultimate payoff came at the end of Season 5 when Tara found and saved Pam, and the two broke the ice with a passionate kiss. “Oh, okay,” says Sookie.
